Our Story

My name is Zach Hancock and I am the Owner and Operator of Zach Hancock Outfitters, LLC.

Growing up on the banks of the Umpqua River, I discovered my passion for fishing at an early age. When I was 12 years old I caught my first steelhead on a guided fishing trip on the Umpqua River. From that experience, I was hooked on fishing and knew I wanted to bring the thrill of catching fish on the scenic southern oregon rivers to others.

My Professional Guiding Career started when I was 16 years old as a white water rafting guide on the wild and scenic Rogue River, in Southern Oregon. At 18, I obtained my Oregon Guide License as well my first USCG Captain License. I started Guiding trips for Steelhead and Salmon along the Umpqua River at 18. The next year at 19, I went to work in Alaska as a Saltwater Captain catching Salmon, Halibut, Lingcod and Rockfish. I have now spent over 10 years guiding fisherman in both Oregon and Alaska.

In 2018 and 2019, I took a break from Steelhead and Salmon guiding trips here in Oregon to captain a commercial Dungeness Crab boat. It was a great experience and made me a better fisherman and overall boat captain; However, I missed the beauty of the Southern Oregon Rivers, and working with my clients who become friends. I am now back to my passion of guiding the one-of-a kind Southern Oregon Rivers for large Winter Steelhead and Salmon.

I look forward to fishing my return clients as well as getting to know new ones!
